DIVIS 360° concept for parcel depots

Efficiency from every angle

Systems for video management in the warehouse should do one thing above all: see everything. The "eyes" of such a system are the cameras. When equipping extensive halls, a larger number of cameras with sufficient resolution is often required, which is why usually the hardware and its installation make up a significant part of the investment costs for a video management system.

This cost share can be reduced by the 360° concept developed by DIVIS for parcel research in the ParcelVIS software. The concept uses a mix of different types of cameras. This mix reduces the total hardware required while maintaining a detailed overall view.

Here's how it works

Panoramic cameras have an omnidirectional view and are therefore able to take 360° pictures. This makes them the ideal accessory for seamless package tracking via video in large areas.

First, the DIVIS experts examine which areas can be optimally covered by the 360° observation and where conventional cameras should rather be used before preparing the offer that provides suitable video coverage for the respective property. This makes this solution a powerful and cost-effective alternative for CEP service providers and parcel depots.

Overview from every angle

The 360° cameras used by DIVIS are equipped with a 360° fish eye lens and highly developed, powerful electronics. All cameras are protected against dirt, rain and vandalism (protection class IP66 / IK10) and have a digital PTZ control function for panning, tilting and zooming.

Due to the resolution of 4K, the quality of the recordings is very detailed – even in the zoomed-in detail views – an excellent prerequisite for simple and fast visual research, regardless if in real time or after the package in question has left the depot.

Fisheye lenses have a very small focal length, which allows shooting with a wide angle of view. This provides image visibility over 360 degrees and large-area tracking of parcels and process monitoring. The blind spot, which is very common with standard cameras, is also eliminated.

A panorama camera can replace up to four cameras in the band and handling area – two in the entrepreneur area, one band camera and one camera for the scan overview. Here, a camera installation following the 360° concept covers the entire conveyor system including scanning and business areas.
With less hardware installed, less wiring and energy are required, which further reduces your installation and maintenance costs.

In order to spare users the laborious search in the detailed, round 360° view, and instead deliver easy tracking through individual sections, our software also displays virtual cameras. They allow for the software to lead the user straight to the relevant image area. Even axis jumps are already converted by the system. The result is a simplified and accelerated package research with optimal overview and user guidance.

Whether new installation or expansion, good planning is essential

The 360° concept has been tried and tested and is already being used by several DIVIS customers, such as DPD, Lagermax, Arvato and Geis.

The implementation of panoramic cameras is not only a great solution for new installations, but with the right planning also for extensions. Existing cabling can be re-used. It is only necessary to check whether the power supply complies with the required PoE class.

However, each hall is different in terms of floor plan, layout and other requirements. Therefore, there is no master plan for the mix of conventional and panoramic cameras with regard to the amount of the respective camera types and their distribution. Every facility needs to be evaluated and the camera distribution has to be planned individually in order to set up the most suitable configuration for the respective application with optimal cost benefits.

Our experts are happy to take care of this task and will work with you to find the best solution for your depot.
